Himalayan Crystal Salt - pink salt

For a long time we have been told that salt is not good for us. That is causes fluid retention and that it can cause disease.

Some years ago I first heard about Himalayan Crystal Salt and that it was having a different chemical composition than regular table and sea salt. And that it was much better for our bodies. Salt in its original form consists of sodium and chloride plus many important minerals and trace elements. For some reason these minerals and trace elements have been considered impure and have been removed when making the salt that we buy in stores. What is mostly left is sodium and chloride which the body seems to feel is a poison.

By eating too much salt (which many people do today) they overload their bodies with the "toxic" salt. "Their bodies now try to isolate the over dose of salt. In this process, water molecules surround the sodium chloride in order to ionize it into sodium and chloride to neutralize it. For this process, the water is extracted from our cells and the body has to sacrifice its most precious cell water in order to neutralize sodium chloride. In doing so, the dehydrated body cells die." (Quote from Himalayancrystalsalt.com).

For many years I did not think too much of the kind of salt I ate. I did not like the salt with added iodine so I avoided that, but I used sea salt and sometimes herbal salt. The sea salt is probably better than the "straight" table salt with added iodine, but I learned earlier this summer that sea salt (as well as table salt) often contains an anti-caking agent which is not good to consume on a regular basis.

Therefore, I recently bought Himalayan Crystal Salt which is supposed to be mined somewhere in the Himalayan area and it is said to still contain all the important minerals and trace elements that regular salt has been stripped of. It is also said to actually regulate the water balance in the body.

The salt has a completely different color than regular salt. It is slightly pink and is actually very pretty. If you can say that a salt is pretty. :) When I tasted it for the first time I actually could feel a "rush" in my body which I know is a signal that something is good for me. This, of course, can never be proven, it is just my own, inner sense of what is good and not good for me. You do not need that much salt when using this kind of salt. Also, the Himalayan Crystal Salt does not contain any anti-caking agents which means that it can cake together but to me that is not any inconvenience.

There has been much talk about this salt being a scam and that it is really road salt from Pakistan. I am sure there are companies imitating the original product. As always, you have to use your inner guidance when you buy these kinds of products. The salt I bought was the kind that has been endorsed by the people who started selling this kind of salt and it has a stamp of authenticity.

The company that is selling the original Himalayan Crystal Salt has also published a book called "Water & Salt" which is a very interesting book about many misconceptions we have about both water and salt.

I will most likely not use the salt I have been using most of my life as this crystal salt just feels so much better for my body.
